To His Excellency
The Governor of Kentucky

Your Petitioners Henry C Miller and others citizens of Washington County respectfully represent that at the Nov Term 1860 of the Washington Circuit Court a Judgment was rendered against said Miller for a fine of $50 on an indictment for carrying a pistol- a deadly weapon -- the fine having been replevined are execution issued on this bond of himself and security is now in the Sherriffs hands -- They further represent that on a similiar charge in the same court tried at the May Term 1861 a judgment was rendered against said Miller for a fine of $60 for which and costs an execution is now in the Sherriffs hands -- It is true he carried the pistol in each instance but he claims to have been justified in doing so & That before that time he
and others had been present in the anderson and Mercer Circuit Courts on charges of the killing of Dixon Searcy and others in Anderson County and notwithstanding he had been tried and honorably acquitted on the grounds of justification and self defence a great number of malicious persons have designed and threatened to murder him in revenge and being apprised of his danger he went around as he had a right to do in self defence and for this the fines were imposed upon him

Believing the fines to have been improperly inflicted we respectfully ask their remission
