Dear Sir.

I have Received your letter, and for answer will state that William Ingram is a poor dissipated fellar, and I fear will do no good for himself or family- In the present case he and Wm Vice had a quarrel produced by a fight of thier children, in which Ingram and Vice produced some disturbance in the nature of a riot- They were both taken up and fined and Ingram Sentenced to 15 day imprisonment. I presume the Statement of Vice was written by himself, as he and Ingram were both implicated in the riot. Ingram is poor and to imprison him will do no good, and the justice agreed to give him a new trial if he would attend and fixed the day for the new trial, but Ingram did not attend. I wish the Govenor would pardon him for the sake of his wife and children, and not from any merit in Ingram. I have goten the constable to wait until I can hear from the Govenor.

I was willing to have written this for Ingram when here at the time I wrote his petition but he supposed my statement would do him no good. His wife is a poor distressed woman, and the condition of her husband Makes her nearly crazy. I wish the Govenor to release him and send the pardon to me and I will give it to his wife
