His Excellency Beriah Magoffin,
Govener of the State of Kentucky:

Your Petitioner Andew J Loecher would respectfully represent to His Excellency that more than one year ago a poor woman named Francis White sent for your Petitioner to go her bail. It seemed that the said Francis White had had a difficulty with a woman unknown to your petitioner, and during an excited conversation cut at her with a knife for which the said Francis was confined in jail, and required to give bail. Your petitioner believing she was guilty of no felony, and through sympahty aroused in her behalf went her bail for Two Hundred dollars to appear in the Fayette Circuit Court. Francis White attended the Court two or three consecutive terms, but on account of the absence of the most material witness, who never appeared, the case was continued by the Commonwealths atty. Last Summer [:J] Francis moved to Missouri and your petitioner has made diligent inquiry, but is unable to ascertain her whereabouts. She not appearing last August, although there
was no witness against her, the bond was forfeited and your Petitioner has been called upon to pay the sum of Two Hundred dollars and costs.

Your petitioner would further state that he is informed and believes that the person whom Francis White was accused of cutting was never injured, and all the processes of the court were unable to bring this witness before it. And upon these facts he would respectfully requests His Excellency to remit the penalty.

The percentum of attys fee and clerks and Sheriffs cost amount to nearly Eighty dollars, and your petitioner would be thankful to get off by paying this sum. Trusting that His Excellency will intercede in behalf of Your petitioner he will ever pray &c.
