To his Excellency, B Magoffin, Governor --

Your Petitioner, Martin S Taylor states that at the [ ] Term of the Harlan Circuit 1860, there was a judgment of 20$ rendered against him for selling liquor, (so charged). He state that He Sold to David Bailey Esqr. One Gallon of Whisky and on othe Gentleman was standing by and said he would pay for part of the said Gallon of Whisky and, that He was indicted for the same, and fined, 20$ for Retailing without license, He state that He has not yet recieved any pay for any of the liquor -- yet, and that the man who indited him has since left the Country and that He -- never paid him one cent towards said Gallon of Liquor, If this is Sufficient Excuse in Law He prays Your Excellency to remit said fine --
