To the Governor of the State of Kentucky

The Undersigned state that at the present March Term of the Taylor Circuit Court, a Judgment was rendered in favor of the Commonwealth of Ky. against Alexander Wilson a citizen of Taylor County, upon an Indictment for selling spiritous liquor to one Thomas Colvin a minor under 21 years of age. The judgment was rendered upon a verdict, & was for $50 & the costs of the prosecution. Said Alexander Wilson is a good citizen, a moral & worthy man, & the said Colvin is a robust young man, has had a large beard for several years & looks like he might have been of full age for some time before the spirits were sold, & it would scarcely have occurred to any man that Colvin was a Minor. We think under the Circumstances, as Wilson is not in the business of liquor selling now, that it would be proper to remit the said judgment, & we therefore solicit you to do so

Our mutuall friend Alexander Wilson has ben fined fifty dollars, as stated in the foregoing petition,

Mr. Wilson has always been regarded here as a gentleman of the highest standing & he is entitled to the regard. I believe that the remission of the fine would be right & would meet with the approval of the whole people here
