To his Excellency B Magoffin Governor of Kentucky --

Your petitioner Nathaniel Warren states that at a called term of the Green circuit court held in February 1861 he was tried and fined in said court the sum of fifty dollars for carrying concealed on his person a pistol, he states that he did not know that there had been called a special term of said court, and knew nothing of the trial until it was over and was not present and had no chance to defend himself against said charge, he states that if he had been present at the trial he could have shown that he did not have the pistol concealed on his person as charged, it is true he did have a pistol but he had it in his hand carrying to his shop but did not conceal it -- all of which he could have shown if he had been present at said trial -- He states that he never intended to violate the laws of the state -- Wherefore he prays that your excellency remit
the said fine and we will as in duty bound ever pray &c
