To Beriah Magoffin Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. your Petitioner Asa Gullet would represent To your Excellency that Sometime in the Fall of 1860 he was arrested by the officers of Magoffin County Ky,, for committing a breach of the peace and was fined $7.00 by the verdict of a Jury I do admit I might have done Something rong but not in the way of committing, a breach of the peace there was a Small collection of people in the Town of Salyer's Ville One day all were taking a dram of Spirits fand that was all the rong I consider I done the Boys to have a little Sport Sprang Something a little crossways. between myself and a certain George Johnson a man who I never had the Slitest animosity Towards and Johnson Struck one or two licks he never hit me and if he had it would not have done any damage I never made ^a^ Single blow at him I do not think there were any breach of the peace committed because the whole affair Seemed to be fair Sport for the bystanders we were fined $7.00 each Besides cost the Execution for ^it^ is now in the hands of the officer who will proceed to collect the Same without Some interposition of the Executive and ~~your~~ this Petitioner prays that your honor will remit Said Judgment except cost.
