Knottsville Ky April 30^th 1861.
Sir

I am well aware of the Amount of Important Business you have now on hand yet I hope you will find time Sufficient to notice this letter. Though an humble Citizen I am Our Cause is mutual.

We want a few of the Best Rifles in North America Our Boys are Marksmen and will ^tell^ where ever they go.

I am aware of the scantily furnished Condition of the State But I hope She is able to furnish us with Such Guns as we want. Can we get them or Shall we Arm Ourselves
as Best we can.

I hope to hear from you as Soon as the press of Business will allow.

If the Legislature will do nothing for us we must do for ourselves.

With due Regard for Your Excellency I Beg leave to Subscribe Myself Your humble Servant,
