To his Excellency The. Govenor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky your Petitioner George. W M^cIntire would represent unto your honour that some two or three years Since one John Penland was taken up by a Commonwealths warrant for a breach of the peace & a trial was had on said warrant which resulted in the said John Pendlands being fined Ten Dollars that some time after said Judgment there was an Execution issud on said Judgment & your petitioner. Replevied said Judgmt that the said John Penland some time in July 1861 departed this life & left no estate that he did not have an estate sufficient to pay said fine your petitioner therefore asks your honour to Remit said fine as it will be a great hardship for him to pay said fine & [Soon] it which he will be Compelled to do provided your Excellency dose not interpose in his behalf your petitioner states that if the said John Penland had land he would have paid the fine by work as that was the only means he had to pay with that through Sympathy Your peititioner replevied the fine for him & to save him from being imprisoned for it which he could never have paid in Jail but unfortunately shortly after said fine was replevied the said Penland departed this life for this reason & for the hardships it [works] on your petitioner he asks said fine to be remited & will ever pray 30 June 1862
