To His Excellency the Governor of Kentucky:

Charles G. Jones states on oath that he is one of the firm Jones & Tapp, merchants, whose store now is and has continued to be since Nov^r 1863, on the east side of 6^th cross street between Main and Market streets, in Louisville, Ky. Affiant states that on the night of Wednesday Dec^r 14, 1864 said store was burglariously broken open and entered and affiants coat worth $55.⁰⁰ and other articles ^the property of Jones & Tapp^ worth over $1000, were then and there feloniously stolen, taken and carried away from the aforesaid store of Jones & Tapp -- which said burglary and theft were committed by John H. Cannon alias John J Henderson, in company with three others, which three are now in jail in Louisville Ky, having been Examined and held to bail, each in the sum of $1,000, to answer at the January term, 1864 of the Jefferson Criminal Court, to a charge of felony on the grounds herein before stated.

Affiant states that the aforesaid John H. Cannon alias John J. ~~Harrison~~ ^Henderson^ was also arrested together with the other three, & was taken to jail, but effected his escape before being committed to the jail; and in this wise, viz: he was searched by the policeman who found upon him a check, and after this he proposed to the policeman
to accompany him to his Hotel; this was done and said prisoner then, on the night of the 15^th Dec^r, 1864, effected his escape and is now, as affiant is informed & believes in the State of Tennessee. Affiants states that with the aforesaid check found upon the said prisoner, John H. Cannon alias John J. Henderson, the policeman procured Affiants coat aforesaid from the Hotel when said prisoner stopped & which was worth $55, and was in the store of Johnes & Tapp aforesaid when said store was so as aforesaid burglariously entered; said coat being then & there by the parties aforesaid feloniously taken therefrom with other property as herein before stated.

Affiant states that said store was burglariously broken open & entered by the parties aforesaid on the night of Dec^r 14, 1864 by boring through the shutters of the back door, unbolting the top & middle bolts and breaking the glass and busting off the bottom bolt of the door.

Wherefore affiant asks your Excellency to grant him a requisition upon the Governor of Tennessee, for the person of said John H. Cannon, alias John J. Henderson to be brought to Kentucky to be tried, ac-
cording to the laws of Kentucky for the felony aforesaid -- said offences being felonious by the laws of Kentucky, and punishable by confinement in the State penetentiary
