To His Excellency Thomas E Bramlette
Governor of the State of Kentucky

Your Petitioners the undersigned citizens of Breckinridge County, would respectfully represent to Your Excellency that on the 20th day of October 1863, one William Gross was committed to the Jail of said county at Hardinsburg on a charge of larceny, and that his bail was fixed by the examining court at $200.

Your petitioners would further state that on the 31^st day of October 1863, Edward Pate, Ezekiel Fisher, R. L Newsom, Thomas N. Warfield, Barnet Lillard, Edwin Hambleton, Marion Hambleton, M. N. Dent & C. T. Rhodes, executed to the Commonwealth of Kentucky a bail-bond in the sum of $200, conditioned for the appearance of the said William Gross in the Breckinridge Circuit Court on the first day of the next April term 1864, whereupon the said Williams Gross was discharged form prison.

Your petitioner would further state that the said William Gross soon after his release enlisted in the military
service of the United States, and continued in said service until long after the said April term 1864, of said Breckinridge Circuit Court, thus rendering it impossible for the sureties above-named, to bring him before the said Court at its said April term 1864, [ ] They would also state that at the Oct term 1865, of the Breckinridge Circuit Court a Judgment was rendered against said sureties on said bail bond, and an execution issued theron.

Your Petitioners, therefore, believing that it would be a great hardship on the sureties aforesaid to be compelled to pay the forfeiture of said bail-bond, do most earnestly desire and beseech Your Excellency, to remit so much thereof as Your Excellency is by law empowered to remit
