Your Petitioner Thomas OBrien would Respetfully Represent that he had been Quarter Master Sergent in the first Ky light Artilery and was mustered out of said service at Louisville Ky on the 27th July 1865 and from Louisvile visited Ashland Boyd County to see his sister Ann Roberts, that before he left Louisville he was presented with a pistol and carried the same with him to Ashland Boyd county Ky inside of the corporate limits of said Town and was Arrested for Carrying concealed deadly weapons: that in surrendering the Pistol to the Marshall of said Town and his accompanying Guard he was charged with a commission of a breech of the public peace and was tried both for Carrying concealed deadly weapons and a breech of the public peace, And for the latter was fined $30,,00 and sentenced to 15 days imprisionment in the county Jail and for the former was fined $50,,00 your petitioner beleives that both of these fines was wrongful and therefore asks your Excellency to
Remit said fines and pardon him of the sentence of imprisonment he says he has been is now and expects to be an obedient man to the laws of his country he asks your Executive interposition and as in duty will every pray &c
