To His Excellency
Thomas E. Bramlette
Governor of Kentucky.

Your petitioner, William R Boice, of Danville, Boyle County, Ky, respectfully shows, that one John Hudson was indicted in the Mercer Circuit Court for Stealing, and being admitted to bail, your petitioner became his surety for his appearance &. The deft Hudson having failed to appear, his bond was, of Course, forfeited, and at the May Term 1865 of said Court a Judgment was rendered against your petitioner alone for $80 besides cost. Upon which fifa has been issued, and is now in the hands of the sheriff of Boyle County, who is pressing its Collection.

Your petitioner states that at the opening of the term of the Mercer Circuit Court, and at the time said Hudson was, by his bond, bound to Appear in Said Court, and answer said charge, he Said Hudson, was confined in the Jail of Franklin County, on some charge unknown to your petitioner, and for that cause, and that cause only as yr petitioner beleives, he failed to enter his appearance & answer the charge as required by Said Bond.

Beleiving that this is a case in which the Executive may interpose rightfully, he therefore respectfully asks your Excellency to remit so much of said Judgment as by law may be remitted by the Governor, And as in duty bound he Will ever pray &
