To His excellency Thos E Bramlett Govenor of The Commonwealth of Kentucky

Your Petitioner would respectfully represent that That at the Fall term of Lawrence circuit Court 1863 he was indictment for Keeping a Tipling house the circumstances of the case are these that at that time your Petitioner was a private soldier of the 14^th Ky Regt and the witness Boon Salter ~~the~~ w had been on a spree and could not get any order for any whiskey and this petitioner believing that Said Salter kneeded a stimulus your Petitioner as a mater of accomodation and not for profit ~~your petitioner~~ went to the Sutlers and procured for said witness a bottle the witness paying him the same price that this Petitioner paid the sutler your Petitioner would respectfully state that he is a young man of Limited means haveing devoted Three and a half years to the service of his country and not having sold said Whiskey for proffit and never having been engaged in the buisiness would respectfully pray your Excellency to Remit Said fine and in will ever pray &c
