To His Excellency Thomas E. Bramlette, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky;

Your petitioner would most Respectfully represent that at the May term 1864 of the Crittenden Circuit Court ^held^ in the County of Crittenden at the town of Marion Ky, an indictment was found against your petitioner by the Grand Jury of said County "for Selling liquor to a Slave" Said Slave being claimed as the property of one Frances, D. Wyatt, Your petitioner would further represent that said indictment was found Solely by the influence and intrigueing of the Said Frances D. Wyatt who is, and has been a notorious Secessionist, Your petitioner states he verily believes that he had rendered himself very obnoxious to the said Wyatt, Your petitioner being intensely Union in his politics;

Your petitioner verily believes that the said Francis, D, Wyatt influenced and induced said negro to come into Your petitioner's Store at the time and place and purchased the liquor as Your petitinoer is charged with selling in said indictment; Your petitioner would further state, that at the May term 1865 of said Circuit Court, said indictment came on to be heard and tried, and upon the Sole and only
testimony of the said Francis, D, Wyatt before the Jury impanneled to try the cause -- Your petitioner was found guilty of the said offense as charged in said indictment, and judgment was rendered accordingly by the said Court against Your petitioner for the sum of Fifty Dollars --

Your petitioner humbly prays that so much of said judgment that is consistent with equity and justice be remitted by Your Excellency, and for which he will ever pray &^c. Dycusburg Crittenden C^o Kentucky
