To tHis Excellency Thomas E Bramlette The Governor of the State of Kentucky

The petitioner Susan Barr, most humbly represents to your Excellency: That at the March Term of the city Court of Louisville she was fined the sum of $50:00 and costs on a charge of Keeping a Disorderly house: She states that being in very bad health she was unable to get to the Court House to defend the case: and the Jury found her guilty: having heard only one side of the matter: Your Petitioner states she is a widow with a large family of little children and that it is with great difficulty that she can live and support them that her health has been very bad for a long time, and is at this time very feeble, and she lives and moves in the best way she can to keep herself and little children from starvation: she states that she is wholly unable to pay the above fine: and She is told that She must pay it or go to the city work-house This would leave her children utterly unprotected. and scatter them in every direction, which your petitioner submits would be very cruel: Wherefore she humbly prays your Excellency to remit the
Fine to her, in your Executive clemency and she will ever pray
