To His Excellency Thomas E. Bramlette
Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Your petitioners the undersigned would respectfully represent to your honor and state that, at the March term 1865 of the Pulaski Circuit Court, J. W. Adams and Moses Singleton were jointly fined the sum of two hundred dollars for the offense of permitting gaming in their house at Somerset Ky; and state that a judgment was entered at sd term of said court against the said Adams and Singleton by default; and that they had a good and legal defense to the charge made in the indictment and left the court house after the case was called with the understanding that the case was passed until the next morning it being the last case that was called on that day and that their ~~counsel~~ attorney in the case also left the court house with the same understanding; and state that by mistake and under a misapprehension the acting attorney for the commonwealth took a judgment for the aforesaid sum of $200~; and state that said Adams and Singleton are good citizens and keep a genteel, orderly and first-class house
in Somerset Ky. In view of all which your petitioners hereby respectfully petition your Honor to remit the fine aforesaid; this the [ ] day of March 1865

I know that the judgt. was taken without trial & that as inducement not to motion for new Trial is it was proposed to have application for remission I think it a case for interposition by Executive
