Gov T E Bramlett.

Sir. Several years Since the Grand Jury of Christian County. returned a true Bill against one Jessee Cornelius charged with assaulting a man by the name M^cKinney. the writ against Cornelius was issued in due form. permitting him to give Bail in the Sum of ~~One hundred~~ Fifty Dollars for his appearance to answer. he gave the Bail with James -- A Cornelius as surity. upon the calling of the cause Jessee Cornelius failed to answer he had enlisted in the Federal Service and is now a Federal Soldier Judgment has been rendered against his security James A Cornelius for ~~the one hundred~~ Fifty Dollars and the sheriff is pressing the collection of the fifa. James A Cornelius is a poor man with but limited means and a Family dependant upon his individual labour for support and if he has the debt to pay will greatly injure him he is an honest man true to his Country and Union to the core. in view of Jessee Cornelius the principle in the Bond being in the army and the condition of James A. we the citizens of Christian County respectfully but urgently request your Excelency to grant him pardon for so much of the Judgment as is in the power of the ~~Governor~~ Commonwealth
