To his Excellency T. E. Bramlette ^Governor^ of Kentucky

your petitioners the undersigned state that George Brady a private soldier in co C 10th Ky Vol infantry is a resident of Marion county and he and his father are well known to the undersigned -- sometime during the fall of 1863 George Brady being home on sick forlough was on a visit to his uncle Davis Champion of Anderson Co Ky and while on said visit he purchased a saddle from some man unknown to him having met the stranger on the public road -- The saddle proved to be the property of a citizen of Anderson Co and was reclaimed by him and a prosecution commenced against George Brady for wrongful possession of the saddle -- George Brady's father a loyal and poor man of this Marion Co went to Anderson and became surity for his sons appearance at the Anderson court in the sum of one thousand dollars ^which bond was forfeited by the nonappearance of George Brady at the Anderson court^ Immediately after the bond was given for Geo Bradys appearance, He went to his regiment the 10th Ky then near Chatinooga and remained in his regiment at the front until about 1st of July last he was wounded and sent to the hospital where has since been and now remains -- said George Brady is regarded as an honest good boy and always had that
Reputation in this county where he was born and raised His father Henry Brady his surity on the bond is an honest poor man and has not property sufficient to satisfy the Execution -- Your petitioners state that the reputation for honesty of George Brady and his father is good as any one where they are known -- They are poor people and [...] But always maintained an unsullied reputation for honesty -- your petitioners respectfully ask your Excellency to remit the amount of the judgment or so much as your Excellency can remit --
