To His Excellency Gov Bramlette

Your Petitioner William H Davis respectfully represents to your Excellency that in the year 1860 he was indicted in the whity Circuit Cort charged with the maliceous stabbing of William Moony, that when the call was made in 1861 for volunteers he volunterd in the Military Service of the United States for the Term of three years, attaching himself to Compy F. 7^th Ky Volunter Infty under Command of Col. T. T. Garrard. He states that he remained in said service until may 1864 when he was discharged by reason of wound recived in said service, he was in the first assault made on Vicksburg, when the union forces were repulsed, he was at the taking of Arkansas Post, Fort Gibson, and was wounded at the battle of Champion Hills -- He says that he served his Country faithfully during said Term, and only left it when he was unable to serve longer

He says that the Jury found him not guilty of malicious stabbing, or stabbing in sudden heat & passion but found him guilty of an assault, and fined him fifty dollars -- He says that he never had any thing aganst Mooney, they were friends before and Since said difficulty, and are friends now: He hopes that under all the Circumstances your Excellency will remit said fine -- He is poor, has ben disabled in the service of his country and cannot pay the
fine, without serious inconvenence
