His Excellency
Gov. Tho E. Bramlett

Your petitioner would respectfully State his case as follows.

That his term of service as clerk of the circuit court of Union County expired in September 1856. That at the October term of said court same year. He reported to the Union Circuit Court that he had on hand. $154. public money., after deducting $7.70 commission. left remaining $146.30. that this petitioner had two claims allowed by said court. one of. $55.00 the other $35.50 making the sum of. $90.50. -- leaving a balance due the Commonwealth of Sixty three dollars. and fifty cents -- That so soon as the clerk could make out said claims. he forwarded them with the balance in money ^save the postage 45 cents^ to Tho. S. Page then Auditor of Public accounts. as he had done for thirty years before -- Nevertheless he was motioned in the Franklin Circuit Court and Judgment had against him for $90.85. only being credited by the $55.00 paid the Trustee of the Jury found execution issued for that sum credited by the last order $35 50. as paid in January 1864. Your Petitioner has paid off said Execution except the interest thereon. & and the Damages. about $18. -- He states that he did believe that the amount was fully settled until otherwise informed by M^r Green former Aud^r He prays that your Excelleny will for the reasons above stated remit the Interest on said execution. and the Damages. the balance having been inclosed once, and since paid.
