Hon T E Bramlette Governor of Kentucky

Your Petitioner William G Rice would respectfully represent & state that He was Indicted in the Casey Circuit Court by the Grand Jury for standing a Stud Horse in the year 1862 without a License and Judgement rendered against him for twenty five Dollars for the offence a copy of s^d Judg^t is now filed with his petition. The facts of the case are these, in the year 1862 I had no stud horse of my own, a soldier left with me a stud horse to feed & pasture, who paid me for so ding and whilst I had said Horse I for the accomodation of my friends & Neighbours did let said Horse cover some mares but ^made^ no charge for his service to said Mares, nor did I publish to the neighbourhood that I would let said horse to Mares, the said Horse was kept by me about two months and his owner took him away in the month of June of s^d year at my reelection

I admit service of the summons but have no recollection of it, nor did I know there was an Indictment or Judgement against me for the offence aforesaid until one day this week when the Sheriff called on me for the fine I made no defence to the prosecution

The premises considered I pray you will remit to me ^the^ fine aforsaid or ^grant^ such relief as my case merits &c June 4th 1864.
