Dear Sir,

I send you the petition of J T Goodman, to be relieved from the payment of a judgement of the Allen Circuit court against him & in favor of the Commonwealth. The facts of the case are correctly set forth in the petition, as I understand. Mr Goodman is a man of veracity. So far as they rest on his own statements I do not doubt him. I hope you will find it consistent with your views of official duty to grant his petition.

Will you do me the favor to act on it at an early day & apprise me of the result. I make this request because the excecution is in the Sherriffs hands, & Mr. Goodman's property will be sold in a few days, unless relieved by you, or he can make some arrangment to raise the money
