Dear Sir

Your Petitioner, J. R. Dodge States that he is the administrator of Young Clark who died on the 9th day of August 1860, and that on the 15th day of May previous, a fine ^of $106^ was assessed against Said Clark for a breach of the Peace.

He further States that the decedent was a Man of Small Means, and that there will be Scarcly enough Means of his Estate, left to pay the debts of the ~~estate~~ Same, -- that he left a widow and Several children with out means of Support,

Wherefore your petitioner prays Your Excellency that you will release So much of Said fine as is due the State, and thereby do a Kindness to the widow ~~and~~ children and friends of the decedent.

Dear Sir,

The undersigned respectfully State to you that they are acquainted with the facts Set forth in Mr Dodge's petition, and we think that it would be and act of Justice and Charity on your part to release the fine against Young Clark's Estate, as, if Collected, it would result in the punishment of the children for the deeds of the father, as well as otherwise [Contrare] the ~~the~~ policy of the Law,
