The undersigned petitioner respectfully sheweth that at the December term 1863, of the Kenton Circuit Court he was fined $50, on these several Indictments numbered respectively 782 -- 783 & 785, for selling liquor to minors. The 1^st he repleived Dec 30/63 the 2^d he replieved the same day -- and the 3^d he replieved Jany 12/64 -- He has always been an honorable man and tried to keep [...] biding house -- but these were th[...] young men, working in a La[...] near his Coffee House who leaked, [...]eased to be over twenty one years of age -- they were doing business for themselves -- made their own contracts -- and were to all intents and purposes acting for themselves. One of them lacked but a few months of being 21. All were grown -- and to a person -- not related to them -- they had all the actions and appearance of adult men -- and upon their testimony he was convicted -- upon the instigation of one John Beasley, who became offended because -- affiant attempted to collect from him a small liquor bill. Personally appeared before me John H. Fisk a Notary Public in and for the County of Kenton and state of Kentucky Henry Crout -- subscribed and made oath to the truth of all the statements in the above petition Given under my hand and seal of Office this Aug 19^th 1864

The undersigned jurors who tried the Indictments Nos 782, ^783, & 785,^ state that the facts and appearances, of the witnesses and their testimony is truthfully set out in the preceding petition. The Petetitioners a good citizen -- an honorable man -- We think this a fair case for Executive clemency -- and pray that it may be exercised in this case
