To his Excellency Thomas E. Bramlette

Govenor of the State of Kentucky Your Petitioner Thomas T. Brooks- states that some time in the year 1863. He went into a Bond to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of two hundred and fifty Dollars that a certain J J Ely. charged with some public offence -- would appear in the Rockcastle Circuit Court. that at the August term 1863 of said Court said J J Ely did appear in Said Court and that the case was continued and the recognizance respited, and that sometime after said Court said Ely absconded ~~for parts~~ and left for parts unknown and the Bond of your Petitioner was foreited= ^at the February Court 1864^ Your Petitioner states that he has a large family, and is a poor man, and is a very strong union man -- He asks your Excellency to remit the Recognizance that was forfeited by the said Ely absconding, and not appearing in said Court to answer said charge and in duty bound will ever pray

We the undersigned Persons Endorse the Petition of Thos, T, Brooks as stated within and join in the Prayer of the Petitioner that his Bond to the Commonwealth of $250. caused by the failure of G. G. Ely to appear in said ^Court^ be remitted
