Your Petitioners respectfully represent to your Excellency that at the last December Term 1864 of the Circuit Court for the County of Kenton Joseph Clark a young man of 22 or 23 years of age was tried and convicted, upon an Indictment against him and his wife of the Crime of Receiving a certain Pistol Knowing it to have been Stolen.

The sole evidence against him consisted of ^alleged^ statements of his Wife which were detailed in evidence by a Woman of infamous character by name Mrs Julick- A certified transcript of the record & evidence will be herewith handed you

We believe this is a case that merits the clemency of the Executive which we respectfully invoke in ~~his~~ behalf of Clark and recommend him to your Excellency for unconditional pardon.
