I wish the appointment as a secret Policeman or detective I was formerly Capt. of Company "G" 15 Regt of Kentucky Infy Vols. and was compelled to resign on account of an injury received in the service I have sufficiently recovered from ^said^ injury to be able to perform the the above named service I went into the ^service^ at the commencement of this war and have very much impaired my heath in said service I am a poor man and have a Family to support I wish same appointment at your hands by which I can make a support and you are the only person to whom I can look to for the above named favor I herewith enclose a letter from Col S. D. Bruce I would like to hear from you at your earliest convenience
